The ROAD
This is where my stories come from.
From the things we survive.
From the things we cannot forget.
From the stories that refuse to leave us alone.
I believe there is something powerful in taking what tried to break you, and creating something from it.
A story.
A film.
A voice.
A world that did not exist before you made it.
Black Ravens Studio was born from that belief.
That survival does not have to be the end of the story.
That women who have been silenced, controlled, diminished or made to feel small can reclaim their voices, and turn their experience into something of their own.
From survival to creation.
From pain to purpose.
From a story that happened to you
to a story you choose to tell.
That is why I create.
And that is why Black Ravens Studio exists:
To bring the stories that refuse to leave us alone into the light.
BEING ON THE ROAD
I’ve been here before.
I’ve walked these alleys.
The dark corners of my mind.
That dying, neon-lit sky
you can’t escape.
A trashed scene.
A wounded inventory.
I’ve seen the crying children
on streets no one should ever have to walk.
The silenced mothers.
The injured kidneys.
I’ve felt the depth of my loneliness.
And lost my gaze
in the black waters.
My vision
I’m drawn to the space between what we see
and what is actually happening underneath.
The inner world and the outer world.
How the life we live shapes who we become —
and how the world we carry inside us changes the way we see everything around us.
I'm interested in identity.
In power and vulnerability.
In wealth and poverty,
and the distance between the two.
In what people have,
what they appear to have,
and what is actually happening behind closed doors.
I'm drawn to the contradictions.
The beautiful life that hides something broken.
The person who appears to have nothing, but carries an entire world inside them.
The relationship that looks perfect from the outside.
The woman who slowly disappears inside it.
I want to explore the space between illusion and reality.
Between how we see ourselves
and how others see us.
Between what we want
and what we're willing to do to get it.
Between survival and freedom.
And especially the ways in which power, money, relationships, gender and circumstance shape our sense of who we are.
I'm fascinated by what happens inside people when their external world changes —
and what happens when their inner reality no longer matches the life they've built around themselves.
That is where I find stories.
Not in simple heroes and villains.
But in contradictions.
In people who are trying to become someone while carrying everything they've already been.
Through film and writing, I want to tell stories that explore those contradictions honestly.
Stories about women, identity, power, violence, wealth, poverty, love, ambition, survival and transformation.
Stories where the world outside the character tells one story,
while something very different is happening inside.
Because sometimes the most interesting story
isn't what happened.
It's what it did to you.
